Hiring Local Artisans:

How Can You Reduce Your Wedding Expenses, Receive a Tax Deduction and Promote the Arts at the Same Time?

Sponsor the Wedding Creations TV Show

Videographers selected by Building Bridges will produce a TV show featuring the original wedding creations of local artists and craftspeople. It will show culinary designs, clothing and hair designs, floral designs, displays, venues and other creations. It will showcase the creations that were made for or used by the wedding couples who were a part of either the First Dance with Karen and Michael TV or Radio Show or Kendall Ross Bean Music Video in 2008-2009. The artisans featured must be either local to the area, or represented by an independently owned and operated small business owner who delivers personal service as part of the product. Your sponsorship will promote artists and artisans who serve your community, sharing the love through their creations and video.

If you are already a sponsor for the First Dance with Karen and Michael TV or Kendall Ross Bean Music Video then you will have already written a check to Building Bridges to cover the cost of videography for the minimum of a 2 hour video shoot. If you want to promote your local artistsans, by commissioning original and/or handmade creations for the video taping session, such as clothing, hair design, culinary designs, floral designs and displays, set designs at the venues, then you can submit a proposal to Building Bridges. Your proposal would include:

  1. An itemized list of what original works or handmade items you propose be created for this event. These wedding creations must be either handmade for your wedding or be an original creation to qualify. In some cases you might have something that is pre-manufactured that is altered or personalized for your use. The cost of personalization might be included in the itemized list, but not the cost for the pre-manufacturing.
  2. The cost of having those works created. This should be fair market value according to IRS standards.
  3. Which local artists you recommend for each project.
  4. 5% cost for Building Bridges administration expenses should be included budget for the project.

Your wedding must be video taped by a videographer chosen by Building Bridges so that visuals can be taken of these creations at the wedding reception for the Wedding Creations TV show. If you are already a video sponsor for First Dance with Karen and Michael TV Show or Kendall Ross Bean Music Video then, no extra sponsorship would be needed, because the 2 hour minimum required by the videographer can include filming these wedding creations at the wedding reception. If you are a Share the Love Radio Shows Sponsor, then Building Bridges would also need to have a Wedding Creations TV Show Sponsor for the video shoot to cover the 2 hour minimum for the videographer.

If Building Bridges approves your proposal for these creations to be featured in the Wedding Creations TV Show, they will issue a call for sponsors so that these works can be commissioned. You or someone else can then decide to sponsor this project and write a check to Building Bridges for the cost of the commission and sponsorship. Building Bridges will then pay the artists for creating those works. 90% of the cost of the commission is tax-deductable for the person writing the check to Building Bridges.
